• Kohiki/Buncheong is a technique where a high-iron clay body is covered with white slip/clay and then a transparent glaze, before it is fired, with origins from Korea/Japan. There is a simple and understated beauty in Kohiki/Buncheong ware which grows with you. However the rate of failure is high with this technique as pieces tends to collapse after white slip is applied. They also tend to crack or peel if the slip when laid over the base clay. Hakeme (meaning brush strokes) is by applying white slip using a brush instead of dipping the whole pot.

My works and style reflects my ethos to ceramics; organic and intentional. Thus imperfections and variations in form and texture are intentional choices unless otherwise stated. Some warping is intentional, while some naturally happen in the making and firing process. 

As each piece is handcrafted, measurements may vary slightly. Ceramic surfaces are complex in nature, accurate portrayal of texture and colours are difficult through photos. Pieces may look different in varying lighting and viewing conditions as well.
